Forward deployed engineer jobs: working from Poland and reading the listings

Employers with forward deployed roles available from Poland include fonio, TechTorch and Neurons Lab. Their scope, engagement terms and travel requirements differ. Here are three examples checked on November 2, 2026, and a way to assess whether a role matches your experience.

Three FDE work arrangements: Warsaw, remote work and a client project

I first check where the work can be done and what must be delivered to the customer. Then I look at the title. FDE can lead to telephony integrations, data engineering or an architect role. Each calls for different evidence of skill.

These listings appeared on the employers’ boards on the date checked. They are a comparison sample, with no estimate of market size. Each link leads to the source where you can check the hiring status again.

Three listings based in Poland or listing Poland as an eligible location

Employer and roleLocation and arrangement in the listingDetails to check
fonio: Forward Deployed Engineer, PolishWarsaw, full time. Deployments for the Polish market.Relocation to Vienna for onboarding. Native or near-native Polish and fluent English. Checked: November 2, 2026.
TechTorch: Forward Deployed EngineerSenior role in Data Practice. The heading says Remote (Poland); the location field says EU + UK.Python, SQL and data systems. The text also uses broader remote-work wording. Checked: November 2, 2026.
Neurons Lab: Forward-Deployed AI ArchitectRemote contract. Poland is among the listed locations.Delivery for travel disruption operations. An in-person working session in Milan is included. Checked: November 2, 2026.

Full time describes the working commitment. That label alone does not establish whether the arrangement in Poland is an employment contract or another form of engagement. The table also preserves Neurons Lab’s architect title. Its responsibilities need to be compared with those of an engineer role.

Similar titles can cover different stages of customer work. A separate guide compares the responsibilities of FDEs, product engineers and solutions engineers.

Remote work: country, working hours and travel

TechTorch names Poland in the description, lists EU + UK in the location field and later says work can be done globally. Those statements do not establish a single boundary. Confirm the country the company will actually hire from before the technical interview.

For each role, I separate four decisions: country of residence, work location, hours shared with the customer and travel. Remote work can include customer visits. It also leaves questions about overnight support or incident response unanswered.

A short note to the recruiter can state: I live in Poland, work in this time zone and can travel with this much notice. Please confirm whether those conditions fit the role. This avoids a detailed project discussion for an arrangement that cannot work.

Match the application to the customer’s problem

For each selected listing, I make two columns. The first records a responsibility from the job description. The second points to my own example: part of a project, a test result or a decision I made. A blank cell becomes a discussion or study topic. I do not fill it with the name of a tool I have merely tried.

For example, a role asks for CRM integration. An application could show how I retrieve data, check access and handle a repeated write attempt. An API failure test belongs next to that example. A screenshot of a working chat interface does not answer those questions.

If a project was built for learning, its description should say so. Synthetic data should also be labelled. Show your own contribution, instructions to run it and known limitations. This can be done without disclosing a previous employer’s code.

Questions that clarify the role

  • Which customer process will I own, and who on the customer side will accept the result?
  • How many customers will I support at once? How long does a typical project last?
  • Who grants data access, and who approves production changes?
  • What stays with the product team, and which code does the deployment team maintain?
  • Who responds to incidents after launch, and how does the company cover travel?

The answers show where the role ends. If one person is expected to sell, build the system and provide ongoing on-call cover, priorities need to be explicit. Asking for an example of the last deployment reveals more than a broad promise of autonomy.

WANT TO WORK FORWARD DEPLOYED?

Our collective of AI engineers works on client AI projects. A member whose profile fits a brief gets an offer to join, and every member can sit all four Claude certifications through our partner organisation.

One application with evidence of your own work

For a selected role, I would prepare a short note about one project. Start with the user’s problem. Then explain my change, tests and result. Finish with something that still needs work. A repository or demo link should support that account.

The project plan and a way to describe its tests are covered in the guide to building a portfolio around a working deployment. In the application, I would keep the parts that address this particular listing.

Compensation also needs a shared basis for comparison. An annual amount, an hourly rate and a monthly invoice describe different arrangements. Establish currency, taxes included, working commitment, paid leave and travel expenses. A few listings cannot establish a typical FDE salary in Poland.

List a certification as a separate learning achievement

If you include a credential in your CV, give its full name, issuer and date. Do not present it as an entitlement to an FDE position. Another article explains how Frontier Academy badges differ from Claude certification exams.

Our consultant program is a separate form of collaboration. We accept some applicants and may offer project participation when a member’s profile fits an engagement. The program guarantees neither employment nor admission to any employer listed here.

For today, choose one listing. Record the date, confirm the working arrangement and match one of your own examples to each responsibility. Then send an application that lets the other person assess a concrete scope of your work.
